It’s (Almost) Always Sonny in Austin

Sonny’s Porch makes its SXSW debut.

Earlier this month, we packed up our cowboy boots and a ten-gallon hat (OK, so we borrowed them from a friend), and headed out to Austin, TX for its annual SXSW festival. We teamed up with our friends from Monster Children and hosted an exclusive showcase courtesy of Sonny’s Porch. Not in our little beach cottage in Cocoa Beach, but in the heart of the Texas music scene: Empire Garage.

Hats off to the Austin community, Monster Children and all the amazing participating bands including Automatic, dust and Deeper. Thanks for letting us mess with ya, Texas. We’ll be back.

We’ve had quite a few musicians play on Sonny’s Porch in our time but having Fat Tony on deck was unlike anything we’d ever seen before.

Beyond his talent as a musician, Ray Barbee is also one of the pioneers of skateboarding and helped lay the groundwork for what street skating is today.
