What's an SPF?

The SPF (Sun Protection Factor) on a bottle of sunscreen indicates the level of protection we're getting from the sun's UVB rays—which are the sun rays most commonly responsible for sunburns and skin cancer.

Mineral vs Non-Mineral Sunscreen

Both mineral and non-mineral sunscreen offer Broad Spectrum protection. So, what’s the difference between these two sunscreen types?

We've Got Answers

Should You Rub in Stick Sunscreen?

Yep, don’t just swipe and hope for the best—rub it in! Think of it like blending your smoothie (but for your skin). Spreading it out evenly makes sure you’re fully covered and not rocking any random sunburn streaks later. Just take a few extra seconds to smooth it in with your fingers, especially on spots like your nose, cheeks, and shoulders. Future-you will be stoked when you’re bronzed, not burned.

Do Sunscreen Sticks Clog Pores?

Nope! Most sunscreen sticks are made with non-comedogenic (fancy word for “won’t clog your pores”) formulas, so they’re a great pick for your face, neck, and anywhere else that’s prone to breakouts. Many sticks are packed with hydrating ingredients like shea butter or vitamin E, which help keep skin smooth without gunking up your pores. So, if you’re looking for an easy way to protect your skin without dealing with breakouts, a sunscreen stick is a solid choice.

Are Sunscreen Sticks Effective?

Oh yeah, they get the job done. Sunscreen sticks work just as well as lotions, sprays, or gels—but they come with way less hassle. No spills, no drips, just straight-up sun protection exactly where you need it. Since the formula is solid, it grips your skin (in a good way), making it perfect for targeted coverage—think nose, cheeks, shoulders, and anywhere else that soaks up the sun. As long as you’re rocking the right SPF and reapplying when needed, you’re golden.
