We've Got Answers

How often should I reapply this Lip Balm?

We recommend reapplying SPF after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, and at least every 2 hours.

Are your lip balms Vegan and Gluten Free?

All of our lip products are Gluten Free. Only our OG SPF lip balm is Vegan, as the others contain beeswax.

Do SPF Lip Balms Actually Work?

They sure do! SPF lip balms are the ultimate sidekick for your lips—protecting them from UV rays while keeping them smooth and hydrated. Your lips are extra delicate (that thin skin doesn’t have its own sun shield), so they need a little extra care to fend off sunburn and damage. That’s where SPF lip balm steps in, acting as sunscreen and moisturizer all in one. The result? Lips that stay healthy, happy, and ready for whatever the sun has in store.

Reviews

Very Good Conditioner

"Excellent conditioner. Keeps my baby fine hair healthy without weighing it down. Wonderful beach scent. I wish you would make a shampoo without PPG or propylene glycol."

Elaine R. (5/5)

Perfection

"Absolutely Perfect!"

Bentley R. (5/5)

Horrible sunburned lips

"There is no way this has any sort of spf in it. I have the worst sunburned lips, with huge amounts of swelling, and painful blisters after using this for one day on the lake. Immediately throwing this in the trash! Do not buy product"

Morgan S. (1/5)

Leaves lips dry and swollen

"Beware. . . this product will dry out your lips! Terrible swelling and pain after use. Now reading the comments, I see this is a common issue. Stick with what you know and don't let their cute packaging fool you."

Gina T. (1/5)

Big fan of the scent

"Big fan of the scent and who doesn't love spf lip protection? A win all around!"

Logan C. (5/5)

Love, wish it came in

"Love, wish it came in a squeeze tube so it could be left in the car without melting into a mess"

Kim F. (5/5)

good, but scent was terrible

"I really liked how it felt on my lips, kept them moisturized and protected all day! But I only use it on the outer section on my lips (even that is rare), because it A: doesn't smell that great and B: tastes gross when you didn't accidentally lick it. honestly when I tried it it tasted like sunscreen. overall a fine product!"

maya (3/5)

Terrible painful reaction! DO NOT BUY THIS.

"I had a very bad reaction to this sunblock lip balm. Two of the three people in our party had a reaction, which was characterized by swelling, blistering and pain on our lower lips. It's now 10 days later, and my lips are still recovering. I don't know why it works great for some people, but is just awful for others. This product should not be on the market, and I STRONGLY ADVISE NOT PURCHASING IT. The pain is not worth it. Background: I live in Michigan, and used this product in Cancun. I don't normally use sunscreen lip balm, but thought it would be a good idea. I'm male, 65, and the other person in our party who was affected is not a blood relation, female, about 30."

Frank B. (1/5)

3 stars

"Hi! Don't be fooled by the 3 stars. . . I think it's a great product over all. But to me, only downs are, it burns a bit on the lips and it tastes chemically when it gets in your mouth. But it smells great. Oh yeah, I'm very satisfied that boys can enjoy it as well. Give it a go!"

Sam (3/5)

Sunburn and blisters

"I took this on my Caribbean vacation. It can’t possibly have spf in it, and I’m thinking the oily texture attracts the sun. I have never gotten blisters on my lips from the sun, and I sat in the shade most of the day, but my lips were painfully burned and blistered. I thought I was doing myself a favor being diligent about using this and I feel totally tricked."

Q&A

No moisturizer? I bought this in need of lip moistizing and it provided zero. I was in the middle of nowhere and only had this. It was worthless.

My lips get super dry when using this product. Can I wear aqufor over this or would that reduce the effects of the sunscreen?
Hi Kasi, thanks so much for reaching out! You can definitely do that. We have a couple of other options if you're looking to try out something different. Our CocoBalm is the perfect option for everyday use! You can apply that when you are wanting a more moisturizing lip balm. Our fragrance free Mineral SPF 30 Lip Balm could also be a good alternative to our Original SPF 30 Lip :) xo, SB
