In The Air
"Snowboarding is about connecting with the mountains. Surfing is about being one with the ocean." —Patti Zhou
She’s only 14, but none of this is new to her. Not collecting medals. Not making grown-ass pro athletes jealous. Not the “did you see that?!” surprised faces in the crowd at global competitions like the 2019 USASA national championships in Colorado and last year’s Stab High Japan.
As much as Patti Zhou is building a career around defying gravity and expectations on her snowboard, she’s also a world-class surfer. At only 11, Patti was the youngest-ever athlete to land on the podium at a Dew Tour event. And as you can see in her new film In The Air, she’s not slowing down as she continues her ascent. No surprise for someone named after the ultimate rebel, Patti Smith.
Keep on soaring, Patti. We’ll be watching.
